Chairman’s Appreciation to Members post – 2021 Engineering Week

Dear esteemed elders & colleagues,

APPRECIATION

On behalf of the 2020/2021 Executive Committee, I use this opportunity to sincerely appreciate all members of the Branch who actively partook of the 2021 Engineering Week activities.

I am particularly entharalled by our elders some of whom physically attended upward of 4 to 5 events in the course of the Week such as the Business Luncheon, the Young Engineers Forum Interactive Session, the Elders’ Forum, the Annual General Meeting and the Dinner & Awards Night.

We have indeed been overwhelmed by the great display of commitment and support by our members, both old and young. And we say a very big THANK YOU to you all.

It is our considered opinion that the Engineering Week has started yielding the desired impacts, examples of which is the platform it created yesterday for a potential R&D partnership between the Bells University of Technology and Dangote Industries Ltd. as well as the opportunity the Branch had on Tuesday to present the preliminary report of the Lagos State Engineering Index and Infrastructure Scorecard to the representative of the Governor of Lagos State, to mention but a few.

We cannot be more fulfilled and this is courtesy of the hard work of the Engineering Week Planning Committee, particularly the Committee Chairman & Co-Chair and of course, all other active members of the Committee as well as some other Committees such as the Engineering Index & Scorecard Committee (EISC), the Physical Development & Property Maintenance (PDPM) Committee and the Young Engineers Forum (YEF) that all had inputs into the activities of the week.

As much as we have humbly taken the accolades of the modest achievements of the past year, I give full assurance that we have also very well taken the corrections to heart, from the undesirable delay in making the AGM report available to the need to effectively straighten the financial accounts of the Branch and I make full commitment to work with my colleagues on the 2021/2022 Executive Committee to ensure we get it all right in the coming year.

I will not fail to also appreciate the Electoral Committee that ensured full compliance with the Branch Bye-Laws to conduct the 2021 elections free of rancour, which is a testament to the high level of maturity expected of a professional body such as our great Branch and to which the current administration remains committed. And I must at this juncture say that following the outcome of the elections, there are no losers as we are all indeed winners 🏆 as members of the Branch to beat. As many as are not for now having the opportunity to serve on the Executive Committee will be having the opportunity to do serve as Chairmen and members of statutory Standing Committees and thereby having the opportunity to also effectively make their contributions to the continued upliftment of the Branch.

As we indeed appreciate God Almighty and all members of the Branch for 2020/2021, we look forward to a more action-packed, greater fulfilling and much more impactful 2021/2022.

Kindly extend my appreciation to our wonderful spouses who have given every support required for the modest success of the past year.

God bless us all!
God bless Ikeja Branch & the NSE!!
